Can I use this product if I have asthma?
BRONKAID Caplets provide temporary relief of shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, wheezing and cough associated with bronchial asthma. Help loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to rid the bronchial passageways of bothersome mucus and drain bronchial tubes.

Directions

What is the recommended dosage?
Each package of BRONKAID Caplets provides the following directions:

Adults and children 12 years and over:
  • 1 caplet every 4 hours, not to exceed 6 caplets in 24 hours, or as directed by a doctor.
  • Do not exceed recommended dose unless directed by a doctor.
Children under 12 years of age:
  • Consult a doctor.

I am taking other medications.Will they interfere with BRONKAID?

What does MAOI mean?
MAOI is the abbreviation for the prescription medication monoamine oxidase inhibitors. These drugs may be used to treat psychiatric or emotional conditions, including depression, and for the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

Do not use BRONKAID for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug. If you are uncertain whether your prescription drug contains an MAOI, consult a health professional before taking this product.

What is the formulation?

BRONKAID Capletscontain the following active ingredients per caplet:
  • 25 mg ephedrine sulfate
  • 400 mg guaifenesin

And these inactive ingredients:

  • croscarmellose sodium
  • hydroxypropyl methylcellulose
  • magnesium stearate
  • magnesium trisilicate
  • microcrystalline cellulose
  • polyethylene glycol
  • povidone and starch

What is ephedrine sulfate?
Ephedrine sulfate is a decongestant which produces a narrowing of blood vessels allowing the person to breathe easier. Bronchodilators, like ephedrine sulfate, act on specific receptors and cause the relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle, resulting in freer breathing and relief of chest tightness and wheezing.

What is the purpose of guaifenesin?
Guaifenesin is an expectorant which works to thin mucous making it easier to clear it from the lungs. It is believed to cause a reflex stimulation of bronchial glands, resulting in a decrease in the thickness of bronchial secretions.
